EnergyEfficientBlubDid you know?

China, producer of 70 per cent of the world's light bulbs, has agreed to phase out incandescent bulbs in favour of more energy-efficient ones. Compact fluorescent lamps use between a quarter and a fifth of the energy of incandescent bulbs producing the same light.

The switch to more efficient bulbs from traditional incandescent ones could reduce the annual production of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide by 500 million tonnes, equal to about half the climate-warming emissions of Germany, Britain will begin phasing out energy-guzzling incandescent light bulbs early next year in favour of low-energy varieties as part of its battle against climate change.
