There are 6 key leadership styles which are deemed to be used by effective leaders according to the needs of the situation. Good leaders have been shown to identify the most effective style for each situation when dealing with people.

  • Democratic
  • Visionary
  • Affiliative
  • Coaching
  • Pacesetting
Commanding

The leader demands compliance “Do what I tell you!”

Democratic

The leader forges consensus through participation “What do you think?”

The leader mobilises people towards a vision “Come with me “
